Airbus France took a strategic decision to establish long-term relationships with three suppliers to secure the involvement of solid partners capable of making the requisite investments and supporting Airbus France’s objectives up to and including certification of the aircraft systems. Atos Origin has been supporting Airbus on high value-added projects for many years. Building on a partnership that began with contracts for work on the Airbus A320 and A340, Atos Origin is now the lead partner for the supply of onboard software for the A380 program.
Atos Origin is involved in several projects such as the Flight Control and Guidance Unit (FCGU), the primary computer in charge of flight electrical controls, the Central Maintenance System (CMS), which centralizes failure messages from various systems, accesses maintenance procedures and provides repair support, and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system that manages the data exchange between pilots and the ground.
Other project areas include support to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and change Management activities. Complete and accurate documenting of changes is of critical importance in a project as complex and as international as the A380. Using a web-based workflow management system, Atos Origin developed a solution for the trans-national A380 change process that ensured the fast processing of changes in a reliable and consistent way.
