Business Challenges

Alcan Packaging Pharmaceutical & Personal Care Inc., a business unit of Alcan Packaging, Pharmaceutical & Cosmetics – Americas, wanted to improve operations and reduce costs. They chose Atos Origin to develop and run a mySAP® SCM pilot based on SAP Solution Manager® using a subset of real data from their SAP R/3® system. This reduced the risk and laid the foundation for the deployment of a long-term Supply Chain Management (SCM) solution.

The SCM pilot answered many questions. And with more than 20 years of SAP experience, Atos Origin was able to work with Alcan to implement this new prototyping concept as a pilot project prior to a full-scale implementation of mySAP SCM. This approach provided a solid foundation from which they could develop and define a long-term business plan for its SCM needs and Atos Origin was able to help their SCM team demonstrate the potential value of the proposed investment to the rest of the organization.
