One of the challenges of theBMW Group was the creationof a control system that would ensure the provision of the correct seats in the required order during assembly.

Business Challenges

The large variety of leather seats available, more than 10,000 different models, meant very complex planning and tight control was required.

 

 

 

 

Solutions

 

Atos Origin was selected to solve this and we selected the SCM solution eFORS to ensure that control was synchronous with all steps of leather seat production, such as punching, stitching, pre-assembly, and padding. The inventory management system ICAM+WMS then controls the storage of all semi-finished and finished parts in a picking location, as well as their delivery to the assembly line in the correct order for the E39, E60 and E65 models.

This solution has allowed exact planning and controlling of the complex leather seat production, exactly what the customer wanted. Our target now is to expand the leather seat production solution to other models.
