Business Challenges
- The RBS merger with NatWest bank was the largest European integration of two banks
- Aggressive timescales and cost savings had been shared with the markets during the bid process
- Neither bank had experience of delivering such a major change program
- Many different areas of the bank required support to ensure they were ready for migration to a a single set of IT systems over one main weekend
Solutions
AC Consultants were separately requested and deployed into Program Management functions in almost all the key areas within the group, including:
- Group Technology
- Corporate Banking
- Retail Banking
- Account Operations
Atos Consulting had a detailed understanding of the multiple projects and associated issues, therefore were able to identify and brief board management on the critical issues in parallel with developing plans and tools to minimize the impact on customers and staff.
Benefits
The merger was widely considered an outstanding success. The effective minimization of client and staff impacts allowed the bank to show increased profits over city expectations during that period.
