Our Solution
- 1998 – launched world-first solution to allow pre-paid users to top up their airtime using the ATM network in Belgium
- 2003 – launched an application to allow customers to top up pre-paid accounts using their mobile phones
- 2007 – launched Mobile payment to carry out secure financial transactions as if using their own bank cards
- May 2007 – launched Pay2Me to allow merchants without a dedicated payment terminals such as home delivery, doctors, plumbers and electricians to be paid via mobile phone in a matter of seconds
The Results
- 600,000 customers now using the system with more than 12 million transactions generated in 2007.
- 3000 merchants activated the Pay2Me service in the first six months
- 2.5 million SIM cards in Belgium with the m-banxafe function – within 3 years all SIM card expected to include the m-banxafe functionality
- Popularity has been instantaneous with benefits for users, merchants and network providers
