RTE, the French electricity transmission system operator, has awarded a contract to Atos Origin to overhaul the IT system of the national load dispatch center.

Business Challenge
As the electrical market is being opened up, RTE’s national load dispatch center has been equipped with an advanced Energy Management System that ensures the safe operation of France’s national grid.






It also offers this new market

• improved power quality,
• reduced transmission costs and
• optimization of the generation plan.

Solution
The new SNC enables the control of:

• Two hundred 400 KV substations and eight hundred 225 KV substations,
• Five hundred 400 KV lines and one thousand six hundred 225 KV lines,
• 120 generation units connected to the 400 KV and 315 units to the 225 KV grid with the processing of 16,000 telemeasurements every 10 seconds and a total capacity of 55,000 telesignals.

The new SNC is based on the Atos Origin monitoring and control product ADACS™ (Advanced Data processing And Control System), the result of experience gained in the development of more than 300 control systems currently in service.
