Position: Software Engineer - Systems Integration, France
Testimonial
I joined Atos Origin two years ago as a software engineer, in the “Offer” division which is essentially all the technical experts together providing high level expertise to all business divisions. I'm part of the PIMMS department (Portal Identity Management Mobility and Security) working mostly on portal projects. I'm now the technical lead on my current project, which has been developed "from scratch". Initially this was just me working with the project leader on the specification and conception stages, but more recently two other colleagues have joined us to progress the development phase.
What is so great about my career with Atos Origin is the diversity of projects and great personal and professional experiences that come with them. There's real progression that for me has meant building on my technical expertise in Java development, learning portal development and gaining project management responsibilities along the way. And I feel I have only just started.
There are always opportunities learn about new and innovative technologies on each project, and I also never stop learning about different types of client context and changing client needs. There is certainly no routine or typical day which can mean things can get stressful with tough deadlines to respect, ironing out bugs, satisfying clients and dealing with project challenges but the people around me couldn't be more supportive. We are stretched to achieve our very best, so all the hard work and the pressure is always worth it when you achieve results for your clients and they validate what you've done and congratulate us on our good work!
Our managers really enable us to do our best fulfil our potential and having the best managers always helps! As for my project Leader, he helped me to understand which skills are required to lead a team, to manage a project, to collaborate with colleagues, to respect and meet deadlines and how to manage good relationships with clients. These aren't things you can get from a book, you have to be out there doing it and when you've done it once you can't wait to do it again!
