7Th All Africa Games 1999

6000 athletes from around the African continent gathered in Johannesburg for the 7th All Africa Games, which opened on 9 September 1999, and ran for 11 days.


The 1999 Games included: athletics, baseball, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, karate, netball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.

The Systems


Atos Origin was chosen as the Games Management Systems Supplier, to help in the running of the event. It was the first time that Atos Origin had worked on the All Africa Games, our involvement arising from our success at large sporting events over the past decade, and from the direct recommendation of previous clients. We provided Operational Management Systems for the Games, based on the Event Tools - a suite of applications developed for this kind of event. Specifically, Atos Origin provided:
