Atos Origin was appointed as the IT supplier of the next 8th All Africa Games, staged in October 2003 in Abuja, Nigeria.
The event welcomed 53 African countries competing over 2 weeks in 21 sports. About 30,000 people (6,000 athletes, 1,500 media, 1,200 officials, 7,000 volunteers, 2,000 VIPs) attended the event in Abuja. The opening ceremony was on 4 October 2003.
This event was secured thanks to our strong presence in Nigeria. The project covers a complete solution including hardware, software products, networking, telecommunications, systems integration and operation support. The telecommunication solution was a combination of wireless, wireline and satellite communication thanks to the huge Geomarket's experience in this field. The specific applications provided by the Major Events unit covered Games Management Systems, Results and Media Information System. Furthermore our combined teams managed IT facilities and a CyberCafe.
