Euro '96
Euro 1996

Euro '96 - the European Football Championship - was the biggest European sporting event of 1996. Working with top information technology, media management and broadcast partners, Atos Origin worked to make euro96 Europe's most media-friendly sporting event ever, and a real success.

The logistics of the tournament were demanding - 31 matches spread across eight different UK venues. Managing an event of this scale was a major challenge, and information technology was vitally important in ensuring its smooth running.

Atos Origin - the crucial role

football
  • Atos Origin was the Official Information Technology Integrator, project managing the official euro96 Technology Team: Microsoft, Digital and BT.
  • Atos Origin developed and supplied all systems vital to the running of the event.

Systems for a winning event

  • Operational Management Systems - covering accreditation, media ticketing, materials management, VIPs ("Protocol") and volunteers ("SIS");
  • Information Systems - all current and historical information on the tournament;
  • Results Service - feeding match statistics to all the relevant information systems and embedding information and statistics in all the host broadcasters' transmissions to TV companies, so that they would be seen by everyone watching live coverage or recorded footage.
