Atos Origin was selected to provide consulting, GMS applications and integration services for the 2005 University Games, staged in July 2005 in Izmir, Turkey.
The event welcomed 170 countries and 6,000 athletes competing over 10 days in 13 sports. The sports represented will be Athletics, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Waterpolo, Fencing, Diving, Swimming, Tennis, Gymnastics, Sailing, Wrestling and Tae kwon do.
This project is very interesting as it comprises an initial phase of strategic consulting, where our experts prepared the Master Plan of the event covering all functional areas (Jul-Dec 2003). This phase also comprised of an observation trip led by our consultants to Daegu, Korea in August during the 2003 University Games. Then a detailed IT Master Plan was built (Jan-Apr 2004). The first applications were delivered in October 2004 and a core integration team was on site from January 2005 until the end of the event.
